El train – ‘Destiny’ featuring Danderson

When I was approached by El. Train to feature on his newest EP, Somewhere Between, I was MORE than glad to do it.  Following on from ‘Make My Body Move‘ featuring himself, (which was more of success than I had anticipated), I was actually excited to do it.  I have absolutely loved working with him and the vibe he has brought out in my vocals for both tracks. Sit back, relax, and enjoy ‘Destiny‘.

INTRO:

Oo-oh, You are my destiny.

VERSE 1:
I’ve been searching the world on my own,
Just to get a little taste of everything.
I’ve learned you reap all the seeds that you sow,
When you make your bed then you must lie in it.

I had no hope of feeling ignited, then I met you.
I am thinking you would have given up trying, but you always come through.

PRE-CHORUS:
Love me, you said you will make me happy, I’ll be your girl one and only,
Always lovely, when I get a bit snappy – you are my destiny.
Touch me, reassure me of everything, ‘cause you know that you are my king,
Call me baby, you know what I’ve been missing – you are my destiny.

CHORUS:
Oooo-oh, are you feeling me?
Oooo-oh, you are my destiny.

(Our love) goes on and on
On and on
On and on and on [x4]

VERSE 2:
They told me that we would never work,
They told me someone will get hurt,
Commotion of emotions, in reality you put me first.

My heart is out of control, hold me real close – never let me go,
For better, for worse, you are my destiny.

[PRE-CHORUS]

[CHORUS]

BRIDGE (Done in Jamaican-patois):
Dem see mi x3
Make up mi face, and mi bruk up di place, and mash up di plate, and mi can neva think straight
When you’re not around, only happens when you’re not around (when you’re not around).

Baby, I confess, mi never ever experience, love like this,
Know seh you are di one –
You never let mi down, (never let mi down)
No sah, you neva let mi down – ooo.

[CHORUS]

Lyrics: Make My Body Move

VERSE 1:

I feel it in my bones, I feel it in my chest,

The feeling’s coming over me,

And the music won’t get out of my head,

DJ, can you turn up the bass,

Let the beat (x5) hit my chest,

Release all of my stress,

‘Cause the feeling’s coming over me,

And the music won’t get out of my head,

It’s so damn good,

It makes me throw my hands up, hands up,

make my body move.

CHORUS:

Green light, let’s go – you know that I’m ready,

Drop down, get low – you know I’m a lady,

Up the tempo – treat me on the daily,

Ready to move;

Come on, too slow – switching up the paces,

Love the tempo – DJ take me places,

Do what you do! – My body is ready to move.

VERSE2

You keep me wanting more,

From night to dawn,

Dancing to my favourite song,

Love how you make my body move,

Friends they wanna go

They have to wait a minute more

Make me not wanna leave, yeah

Make my body move,

I want it, (You know it, You know it)

I wrote it, (They bought it and own it)

You’ve had me on the dance floor since I came.

[CHORUS]

Oh make my body move… yeah

Mister DJ, don’t let me down,

Play that song again…

Make my body move.

BRIDGE:

Mister DJ play my favourites, grab the decks and take control now,

DJ, play the tunes loud,

Get hype, take control right now,

DJ, grab the decks and take control,

DJ, play the tunes loud,

Get hype, take control right now.

[CHORUS]

Collaboration with Jarreau Vandal – NEW SONG

I’ve been admiring Jarreau’s work for a long time now and got really excited when he came up with this coloration idea of doing the Biggie Smalls cover.  Though it was interesting collaborating over the internet (as he is located in Amsterdam and I’m in the UK) I absolutely loved working with him. I’m loving the final product and hope you do too!

PREMIERE – “The Music Making Love To Me” w/ lyrics

See lyrics below!
Don’t forget to like and comment on the song on soundcloud (if you have an account…or make one!)

VERSE 1:
Some people when they start to perceive different things
They’ll try to control you
Go, break down my soul
Can’t take control
They’ll try to expose me

Express their disappointment at the little things
One day they’ll disown you
Go, speak your creole
When I’m on a roll
It can take a toll on me

I don’t know why all these things come to me
but you’re taking me back baby
I can’t seem to do anything right recently
Don’t you see?

Let me break it down for you

I want to sing every day
Listen to my songs and have it on replay
I want you to give me a break
Show me some love in every kind of way

Cant be something that I’m not unfortunately

CHORUS:
Don’t you see? The music’s making love to me
It’s like the music’s making love to me (Woah)
The music’s making love to me.

VERSE 2:
Give me a little room
Soak up the perfume and let my mind fly away
I think it and then I sing
The rhythm in my mind is going round and round each day

I take a deep breath and pep talk myself
Danielle it will be okay
Go, put on a show
Let the lyrics flow
You’re going to make it someday

I don’t know why all these things come to me

[EXTENDED CHORUS]

BRIDGE (written in Jamaican-Patois):
Dem a play, dem artists deya play
Danderson pon di remix
Mi ago buss up di place

Ketch yuh face
Shock seh mi Usain Bolt up di race
Yuh mustn’t tell nuh lie
Yuh know ya’ll feelin’ me, feelin’ me, feelin’ me (ah)

But wait, dem seh mi ago stray
But know she God a di man inna mi life
Every day I pray, give thanks unto di lord without delay
Him put di blood inna yuh veins,
Di breath inna yuh airway

[EXTENDED CHORUS]

NEW ALBUM ART, NEW SONG

“The Music Making Love To Me”

PREMIERE = Sunday Feb 23rd @ 5PM GMT

NEW SONG NEW SONG NEW SONG!

The Music Making Love To Me is such a chilled out song.  John-John (a singer I have frequently collaborated with recently) watched some youtube videos and showed me a video of a live performance by Erykah Badu.  I had never heard of her before and I am now ashamed to admit that.  Her riffs, her free-styling, the carefree behaviour she exhibited on stage was extremely inspiring – ergo The Music Making Love To Me.

Months ago I favourited a track called One For Kennedy by Evil Needle on Soundcloud, not having the intention to write lyrics to this instrumental – I simply genuinely loved the vibe of the track.  I frequently listen to ALL my favourited tracks on Soundcloud and after hearing Erykah Badu’s live performance and stumbling across One For Kennedy again? – The melody for The Music Making Love To Me was conceived… but I didn’t have the lyrics or message in mind yet.

How the lyrics were written? Simply based on how I was feeling that night.

Suffocated.Stagnant.Self-Conflicted.Passionate… and a little outraged – let me explain.  There are many times whilst writing a song that I’m not fully genuine with my lyrics – I’m not expressing the raw emotion that I’m feeling. My lyrics are usually conditioned, processed, then reprocessed because I am so fearful of what people will say when they hear it – with The Music Making Love To Me I put my foot down. You won’t believe the amount of times I tried to change the title of the song and the lyrics within the chorus, FEARFUL of what certain people would think, or how they may judge me.

To answer your question, no, I do not make love to music, however the concept of how two people make love – TWO BECOMING ONE – that’s exactly how it is with music and “Danderson” now. We are together and cannot be spiritually, mentally or emotionally be separated, regardless of anyone’s attempt to do so.

STAY TUNED FOR THE PREMIERE OF THE MUSIC MAKING LOVE TO ME (Sunday Feb 23rd @ 5PM GMT)

Falling In Love With You: #ValentinesDay2014

“I have been thinking about love SO much lately, that I can’t help but incorporate it into my music and Falling In Love With You has definitely been a victim of this! Soundcloud has become my new ‘Facebook’, so I’m listening to several new tracks everyday and I came across a 20-year-old producer, known as Chloe Martini, who remixed a track called Temptation – I absolutely loved it!

Falling In Love With You is a sincere song written from the heart and I unregretably admit that its lyrics are inspired from my personal life, so I could easily connect with the lyrics and use nothing but raw, genuine emotion whilst I recorded the vocals.”
